An Angleton Photographer for New Babies and Growing Families

Angleton calls itself the Heart of Brazoria County, and it is the county seat, with the courthouse in the middle of town. The town has its own hospital with a labor and delivery unit. I’m Jen Duke, and I take bump photos, hospital photos, newborn photos and family photos for Angleton parents who want the early days printed and on the wall, with mom in the pictures too.

Newborn sessions are in my natural-light home studio in Richwood. Fresh 48 photos can happen in your hospital room or once you’re home, and family photos can be at your house or outside. Every session ends with an online gallery you can download from and order prints through.

Local to Angleton

What Angleton life means for your photo plans

Angleton was founded in 1890 near the center of Brazoria County and won the county seat from Brazoria in 1896. About 19,429 people lived here at the 2020 census, and Angleton ISD runs seven elementary schools across town (Wikipedia). Here is how a few Angleton things can shape when and how you plan photos.

Born at the Peklo Women's Pavilion

UTMB’s Angleton Danbury Campus has 11 birthing suites where you labor, deliver and recover in the same room, and the rooms have large windows (UTMB Health). Window light is what makes a hospital photo look soft. If you want Fresh 48 photos, put your hospital and due date in your inquiry and I’ll tell you what works.

Fair week comes every October

The Brazoria County Fair runs for nine days at the county fairgrounds in Angleton, with rodeos, live music and cookoffs (The Facts). October fills up fast for a lot of families. If you want fall family photos or photos back before holiday cards, ask about dates early in the summer.

Trails and a butterfly garden at Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park by City Hall has nature trails, picnic areas, a butterfly garden and an event lawn (Studio RED Architects). For your own phone photos of the kids, a late-afternoon walk on a shady trail beats a noon visit to the playground.

Before you book

Easy phone photo habits for Angleton families

  1. In the hospital, open the blinds and turn off the overhead lights. Big windows give you soft light on the baby’s face for free.
  2. Hand someone the phone and get in the photo. Take one picture a day of you holding the baby, even in pajamas.
  3. At the fair, take your photos of the kids before dark. Carnival lights look fun in person but turn faces orange on a phone.
  4. On a walk at Lakeside Park, stand with the sun behind the kids and keep them in the shade of the trees so nobody squints.
  5. On the first day of school, take the photo at the same front door every year. You’ll have a growth chart in pictures by fifth grade.

Where I work

Getting from Angleton to my Richwood studio

I work from my home studio in Richwood, also in Brazoria County, by appointment. Newborn sessions happen there. For Fresh 48 and family sessions, tell me where you are in Angleton (77515) and I’ll let you know what works.

If family is visiting to meet the baby, the Brazoria County Historical Museum Library and the Angleton Library are both in town (Wikipedia), and the county courthouse makes an easy stop for a photo with the grandparents.
